Taking the Lead

Matthew 28:19-20

Read Text

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Reflect

You are a leader.

Whether you consider yourself a leader or not, you’ve been given some degree of influence over the lives of others. This includes your family, your friends, and your followers on social media.

Jesus declared you a leader when He gave His final command, “Go and make disciples” (Matthew 28:19).

“Disciple” means someone who follows somebody else. We make disciples by setting an example and coming alongside others to lead them to Jesus.

We all need leaders to help us through life, and the same is true for following Jesus. Whether you’ve followed Jesus for your whole life or are still unsure about Him, we all need others who can show us the way.

Being a leader may sound intimidating, but it doesn’t mean you have to have a big platform or be a good speaker. Being a leader simply means using your influence, resources, skills, and voice as an example. The best leaders in the world are those who serve others selflessly and transparently.

The question isn’t whether you’re a leader. The question is—now that you realize you are a leader—what are you going to do about it?
